DecemberThanks, Game Devs, For Helping Me Stay Sane Through A Crisis
In the past few weeks, I've twice watched someone back out of a game because I chose the character they wanted to play. Both times, it was because my game defaulted to the character because I didn't make a selection. In one instance, I even apologized after noticing the other player had wanted to be the character I had chosen, but the player backed out anyway. It's important to note that in Apex Legends , selection order is randomized. In both cases, my name popped up first on the selection menu, meaning I had every right to choose whichever character I wanted to play. Regardless, backing out for something so mundane is problematic because my team is forced to play the game as a squad of two up against squads of three, which makes the game much more diffic
The Rig typically boasts tons of good loot and has a charging station. Rarely will more than one squad choose to land here as it can be a detrimental area depending on the circle progression and zone, which may cause a team to have to push through Capacitor, a much busier area. Still, it’s worth it for the solid loot, plus players can easily push over to the remnants of Relay for even more loot before picking off any squads at Artill
In games of Apex Legends 2024 Legends , I’ve found myself matched with profile names that are blatantly racist (they used workarounds to pass spam filters). Once, the first thing someone said was a sexual comment. I’ve been told I was trash for losing a fight by missing a shotgun shot. Random players frequently separate from their teammates, go AFK in the middle of a fight with no explanation and can be toxic in any number of other w
Artillery tends to be busy, especially when the dropship enters the map from the north side. If you’re about to land here and there are other teams, remain close to your squadmates. Loot alongside them in the same building as there are usually several decent guns and white shields in each. Once your teammates have sufficient gear, the squad can take on other players as a t
This area is great if it can be gotten quickly. Not only are there a few supply bins inside the two bunker areas but there are also multiple supply bins just on the outside of them. It also has a few small buildings linked to them with more supplies, multiple levels for combat, and has two entrances into the area making escape a bit easier. This is a highly populated area so be ready for a fight when dropping
This tube-like area in Kings Canyon doesn't have too much loot but it's enough for a team of three to get and make due. It's a very good location to drop into as it has three exits all leading to other high loot areas like Slum Lane. This will allow the team to look at which location is under siege and either join in the fight or avoid it altogether. If meeting up with opponents here, there is not a ton of cover so going on the offense and small flanking maneuvers will be valuable tactics h
About a month ago, after a week-long delay due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic, Apex Legends introduced Season 5: Fortune's Favor. It’s the most successful season launch to date , according to a recent press release. Anecdotally, I can attest to the fact that I’ve put hundreds of hours into the game since the beginning of the pande
Thank you for putting the hours in when you could be sitting at home, feeling as helpless and hopeless as many of the rest of us feel. Maybe there are days when you feel down, yet you keep showing up for people like me. I’m grateful to all of you for pushing through. I can only hope you’re aware of how your work is positively impacting people like
A video recently emerged on Reddit showing exactly how toxic random players can be. A player downs two enemies only to get knocked before a teammate kills the third. The teammates then refuse to revive the downed player. To see it and know there are few consequences for these actions is frustrating, to say the le
Further, this could help balance the lobbies. The theory would be that someone who has gotten "good teammate" accolades has earned the right to not have to squad with potentially toxic teammates. It wouldn’t have to be the case every game, but the "good teammate" would overall have the benefit of playing far fewer games with potentially toxic rand
The Slum Lanes can be a bit of a maze to newer players but the good thing about this area is that it can be easy to get lost when meeting up with other players. Unless someone is using Bloodhound or Crypto, this area is easy to get the jump on others and escape if needed. The area has a lot of loot chests here as well but they are spread out and most of the loot is just lying on the floor in each building. Not a lot of players come to this location and is a good place to go if avoidance of the pack is the strat
A contrarian might suggest these companies are pushing out updates amid a pandemic strictly for the profits. That person might suggest developers are working because they’re afraid to lose their jobs in an uncertain climate. But if those concerns were the only thing driving these development teams, then what would stop the company executives from simply turning to bolder emphasis on microtransactions? Whether you love or hate these in-game monetization options, it's indisputable that microtransactions are sure-fire ways to get people to continue to spend money on ga
