JanuaryThe Next Harry Potter Game: Why An Auror RPG Is Needed
Warner Bros. hasn't addressed the issue directly, but it has tried to rectify it in a different way. Bloomberg is reporting that developer Avalanche is making an effort to include trans characters in Hogwarts Legacy by giving freedom in character creation. Players can reportedly choose a male or female voice, regardless of body type, and also choose if they're addressed as a witch or wizard which also determines their dorm. This hasn't been "officially" confirmed by Warner Bros. or Avalanche, as it was reported using anonymous sour
The Harry Potter franchise is one of the most iconic fantasy series in modern culture. The seven novels currently stand as the highest-grossing book series of all time, and the immensely successful film adaptations have led to the creation of theme park attractions at Universal Studios parks across the US. For years, author J.K. Rowling enjoyed all the acclaim and adoration that creating such a beloved franchise comes with, but more recently, her star has faded quite dramatically. The author became the center of a whirlwind of controversy for transphobic comments she made on Twitter, and for doubling down on her intolerant viewpoint in a long essay published after the criticisms started rolling
It seems that the Lucasfilm Games logo won't be reserved for Star Wars games, as an Indiana Jones game is being developed by Bethesda Softworks and MachineGames , with Todd Howard acting as executive producer. Almost nothing is known about the game at this point. We don't know its genre, platforms, or if Harrison Ford is on board for voices. It's possible that it's early enough in development to be an Xbox Series X/S exclusive, but we won't know for a while
Hogwarts Legacy was announced last summer as an original RPG in the Harry Potter universe. Players will take control of a student at the magical school of Hogwarts decades prior to the arrival of "the boy who lived". The game will open up a lot of unseen angles to this universe, such as expanding on its history while also showcasing iconic locations. The game looks very promising, but more recent developments have caused some concern. The game's lead designer, Troy Leavitt, has been under fire after journalist Liam Robertson discovered that he has a history of spreading controversial Gamergate rhetoric on a personal YouTube chan
Harry Potter fans don't know the exact year, or even decade, in which Hogwarts Legacy takes place . Dumbledore was born in 1881, which means he would be quite young in the video game. If Hogwarts Legacy takes place in the 1890s, he could even be a student at Hogwarts, since this would've been the decade in which he attended the school. Canonically, Dumbledore attended Hogwarts Legacy online guide|https://Hogwartslegacyfans.com/ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from 1892-1899, so all of this is possi
EA is supposed to retain exclusive rights to develop Star Wars video games until 2023. It seems that Disney has other plans, as Ubisoft is making a Star Wars game . Very little is known about this game, as it's said to be in the earliest stages of development, but it marks the end of EA's control over the license. Maybe the Battlefront 2 controversy from a few years back had more of an effect than we reali
It's unclear if this was a PR effort to try and get in the good graces of fans or if this has always been something planned for a while. Hogwarts Legacy was recently delayed from 2021 to 2022 , giving the team more time to work on the game and ensure it lives up to the hype. There's no concrete release date at the moment, but it's likely we'll find out more later this y
Editor’s Note: Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has been accused of transphobia by those in the LGBTQ+ community. Although not directly involved in the development of Hogwarts Legacy, Rowling does stand to earn royalties from the game. We would like to reiterate our support for trans rights and that trans identities are valid. Support services are listed below for trans people impacted by discussions of transpho
Despite being an intelligent humanoid race, goblins have faced much adversity and persecution in the Harry Potter universe, particularly in the 17th and 18th centuries when goblin rebellions were prevalent. Many wizards still consider them a subservient race, and to this day they are forbidden from using wands by The Ministry of Magic. In Chapter 15 of The Order of the Phoenix, the Daily Prophet claimed there were still disruptive groups of goblins even during the 1990s, although no concrete evidence supported the newspaper's claim. It seems entirely likely for some goblins to still harbor resentment towards wizards. In 1877, the 393rd Quidditch World Cup became known as " The Tournament that Nobody Remembers, " as a venue was selected, tickets were sold, and players were injured, but no one can recall the events of that day. It's not known for sure what happened, but speculation has narrowed the blame to either a colossal outbreak of Cerebrumous Splattergroit (a fungus causing confusion and memory loss) or a mass Memory Charm perpetuated by the Goblin Liberation Fr
