DecemberPlayerunknown's Battlegrounds: Advanced Players Tips & Tricks
The most baffling part is that the game had previously been classified for release, just with a different publisher, (although it appears these records have since been removed) The whole situation has left even the countries politicians confu
Crouch-Jumping is an advanced maneuver that allows players to maneuver through tight spaces rapidly and smoothly. This is performed by jumping into or onto windows or fences and then crouching in order to avoid the vaulting animation, to quickly get through the given sp
Perhaps the most contentious pick on this list, Destiny 2 hasn't really been seen as a multiplayer game in the same sense as the rest of the titles in this article. Despite the PvP elements of Bungie's follow-up effort to Destiny remaining as polarizing as ever, though, there's no disputing that Destiny 2 is one of the most successful multiplayer games of the y
Part of the charm of the game is the way it balances killer and camp counselor, a tightrope act that shouldn't be ignored. Mechanics mesh extremely well with gameplay and give players a variety of options in escaping Jason Voorhees —unless they're lucky enough to play as him instead, a delightful experience that is equal parts frenetic and fun. Sure, parts of Friday the 13th: The Game are disappointing, but it was, for at least a few weeks, one of the most hotly-debated and thoroughly-enjoyed multiplayer titles of 2017, earning it a spot on this l

2017 was a transcendent year for multiplayer video games. While the form has always had a place in the hearts of millions of different users, the past year felt like a coming out party for multiplayer on a global stage. While LAN parties have been gone for the better part of a decade now, the image of a group of gamers huddled around networked computer screens has nonetheless remained prevalent in association with the concept of multiplayer tit
After the mod transitioned to ARMA 3 and took-off in earnest, Daybreak Game Company (formerly Sony Online Entertainment) took notice and started development of a battle royale mode for their then upcoming game "Just Survive" (formerly "H1Z1"). In relatively short order, the developer invited Greene to their studio to ask if they could use his mode in the game. Greene agreed and they wound up bringing him onboard the project as a consultant. Just Survive’s battle royale mode would come to be known as "H1Z1: King of the Kill" and helped popularize the fledgling game genre even further.
So why did For Honor never seem to gain much traction in 2017? It's tough to say—a lot of games got lost in the shuffle of what has to be one of the gaming industry's most illustrious years yet. Ubisoft has remained committed to providing new content for players, however, and anyone who missed For Honor the first time around would be remiss not to give it a look during the holiday sea
The Culling has a troubled history, to put it mildly. It preceded even PUBG , hitting the market in early 2016 and launching to significant praise. However, it would squander all of this initial goodwill over the course of barely a single year, halting development on the freshly released title in favor of a new game, The Culling 2 . Fans were less than enthu
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds ' crate and key system isn't supposed to come until the game launches in full but of course, money talks so it's coming NOW. According to Greene and the devs, it's for testing but they're selling items already for real cash so take that for what you will. The goal is to provide a "healthy economy" after launch to keep monetizing the player base for future updates and content additions (like the two in-development maps). All the items are cosmetic only and should not affect gameplay. Still, microtransactions during early access are tough to swallow, especially for a game that's selling so well right now. The other concern is that because the in-game cosmetics count as Steam inventory items, players can sell for real-world cash which can lead to skin gambling/market issues like CS:GO had to deal with recen
Subject to one of the most famously terrible and convoluted development cycles that the industry has ever borne witness to, the failure of Z1 Battle Royale is definitely one for the history books. Initially released as H1Z1 , it was essentially a Day Z knock-off cashing in on the survival cr
The other ban which angered players was that of Jaret Burkett, who most players know as the person behind Map 76. He was one of a group of players banned after combing through the data files, trying to find and report issues in an effort to get them fixed faster. He maintains he was trying to help but Bethesda doesn't see it that
Despite being in early-access, PUBG missions is already an overwhelming success. It regularly dethrones League of Legends as the most streamed game on Twitch. It will be seeing a console release on the Xbox One by year’s end, and it seems to have cemented the battle royale arena as a fully-fledged genre in gaming. Major studios are already taking notice, with games like Grand Theft Auto Online and Fortnite adding battle royale game modes of their own. From starting as a mod-of-a-mod to serving as the basis for several major games, the journey this genre has undertaken thus far is already quite incredible. This is really just the beginning though! Who else out there is looking forward to seeing where these games go next?
