Black Myth: Wukong Review

Black Myth: Wukong Review

Ever since it was first announced way back in February 2020, Black Myth Wukong StrategyMyth: Wukong caught the attention of Asian and Western players alike. Even in the earlier stages of development, it showcased visually stunning graphics , an interesting original concept, and fast-paced combat that resembled Soulsborne games. While the game takes its liberties, the Chinese cultural and mythological influences imprinted on it are evid

If the story was anything to care about, this would be an even more annoying problem, but Black Myth 's story is largely inconsequential . It takes players from one level to the next, introducing them to various characters pulled from Journey to the West , and while there is an overarching story, each chapter also has its own individual tale to tell as well. The dialogue is clunky and the voice acting is unimpressive. But few people play these types of games for the story anyway. Again, Soulslike diehards coming into this likely won't be bothered by Black Myth 's lackluster story, but those expecting something like more traditional character action games are going to be disappoin

One of my favorite parts of the experience was finishing each chapter, and not just because of the excellent, visually impressive boss fights that act as their finale. Upon completion, you’re given music videos which artistically tell various stories, each one unique in its animation style. There is a clear admiration for artistry even outside the core moment-to-moment gameplay that makes you care about this otherwise pedestrian t

Combat is strongly based on an element system including those such as wind, fire, thunder, water, ice, plant, and rock. Depending on players' builds , they'll be able to harness one of many of these elements freely, creating attack combinations to deal damage to any enemies they encounter along their journey. One of the greatest aspects of Genshin Impact is that enemies level up along with the player, so there's always fun and a challenge to be found. Constantly evolving through updates and new characters, Genshin Impact is ambitious, extensive, and addict

However, this brings me onto to Black Myth: Wukong’s biggest problem - the level design. Instead of the branching corridors and winding shortcuts you usually associate with the genre, GameScience has opted for a more linear experience, broken up with large open areas that you can explore. Unfortunately, these are plagued with invisible walls and tricky terrain, making it difficult to gauge where you can and can’t go. In a genre that is typically associated with freedom of exploration and experimentation, it sucks to suddenly feel so isola

With several weapons, such as "Fist", "Drill", and "Whip" at Rayon's (the main character) disposal, players will have to choose their fighting style carefully to make their way through a world full of merciless enemies. To win the game, players will have to solve puzzles, beat difficult challenges, and defeat monstrous bosses that will stop at nothing to end Rayton's journey prematurely and frustrate his efforts to rescue his dear fri

The story and characters in Immortals of Aveum may not be the strongest, but the game presents a brand-new world with enough creativity to make it a respectable debut for the studio. Unfortunately, the game's commercial failure led to significant challenges for Ascendant Studios, putting its future in jeopa

You’re also very quickly given a wide range of tools that you can use in collaboration with your standard attacks and spells to make fights easier, including a huge number of transformations. When you take down a tough enemy or a boss, you’re frequently given either a spirit you can briefly transform into, or a lengthier transformation that gives you a completely different moveset. There’s an impressive range of enemies you can transform into, from lowly grunts to massive abominations, and it’s always exciting to find one while exploring each location and try it out on the next poor, unfortunate enemy you come acr
