DecemberGenesis Review: Yup, That's A MOBA
For a Jungler, a global ultimate is very valuable, and Karthus can easily use his to secure kills. The rework of Nunu has put him in an incredibly good spot, especially in the jungle. He can secure objectives, provide tons of utility, has great teamfight abilities, and is a tank. Nunu has become the Jungler's dr
Almost every Legend's set of abilities have the potential to be game winning moves in clutch situations, but the most tactically beneficial has to be Pathfinder's zipline and grappling hook. With these, the player --and, by extension, their squad-- can claim otherwise unreachable high ground positions that are critical in spotting targets and winning gunfig
The top of the tier list are Karthus, Kha'Zix , Lee Sin, Kayn, Shyvana, Xin Zhao, and Nunu. While champions like Lee Sin have been strong for quite some time, Nunu and Karthus really stand out at the time. Karthus allows for a more carry type of Jungler who is capable of dealing a lot of damage. His ultimate makes sure that no matter what, he will have an impact across the
That may seem like a defeatist attitude, but it's a simple matter of playing the numbers. Hot drop situations are easily the most lethal in the game, and dying there is the best way to lose those valuable ranked points. Dropping further out and later than the rest alone will likely get you into tenth place as a minimum, which scores you two ranked points just for dropping sm
At its core, the game is based on the League of Legends universe, and players can expect see familiar characters and abilities. The basics, like mana, units, and spells will look familiar to anyone who plays a game like Magic: The Gathering or Hearthstone , but from there it's a whole new world to expl
League might require a bit of grinding to unlock all the possible Champions and Runes needed, which can be frustrating. However, the good thing about the hero rotation which forces players to pick from a certain pool of heroes in the beginning is that you won't be overwhelmed right off the
Players generally perform better when they feel good about what they're doing. So, when they land that perfect headshot, let them know that somebody noticed. If they're a newer player, offer advice and tips instead of petulant whinging. It should go without saying, but they'll be a bit more receptive, and a lot more likely to help when it's nee
Playing it low, slow, and sneaky pays off. It reduces the frustrating instances of being victimized by a third party ambush, results in much more consistent RP gain, and will inevitably get you through the ranks much faster than challenging every single squad that crosses your p
Top Lane has always had to ride the line between tanks and carries and thankfully in 9.4, both are viable. At the top of the tier list are Riven, Nasus, Yorick, Vladimir, Darius, Sion, and Garen. For those that prefer to play on a carry, Riven is the obvious cho
The heroes are also a bit more unique due to being predecessors to most MOBA archetypes, with incredibly unique abilities and spells. What makes things even better is that DOTA2 just looks good for a game that's entirely free, and that's a rarity these d
The biggest change is the addition of a win condition. Either team could destroy the opposing base to claim victory, but they can also just get 60 kills. The idea, I imagine, is to stop that endgame drag that always happens in close matches. Both sides hunker down in their bases, carefully turning back creep tides and maybe jungling. But mostly they play it safe, retreating the moment a team fight seems to be going bad. It's tedious, boring, and only amplifies post-match toxicity because the stalemate usually ends when someone gets antsy and gives up a team fight. In Genesis, you can play it safe all you want but one side will eventually get 60 kills. In theory. In my 6-7 hours of play this only happened once. That match still went on a little too long. So while the ultimatum does pressure teams to actually push lanes, it isn't a complete cure for turtl
Pyke is a unique support Champion in that he offers the ability to deal significant amounts of damage and take over as a killing machine. He currently is extremely strong and is a great option for those trying to climb the ladder. Traditional supports are also still viable picks, with the top ones being Thresh, Morgana, Nami, and Sona. These supports thrive on the utility they add to the team, and the pain of being forever trapped by Morgana will tilt the enemy off the face of the ea
This one might be a littleobvious, and frankly, it's not always an option due to scheduling conflicts. Still, the fact is that playing with a team that's familiar offers infinitely more benefits than queuing up and crossing your fingers for a decent line
Genesis has a top-down view, mid goes solo, bottom duos, and hopefully someone jungles. Thankfully, every champion has the ability to teleport to friendly towers. There's a cooldown, of course, but it's still nice to have that ability not locked to a summoner spell. The shop is also available everywhere, Bukovel Minor not just at base. This all seems designed to expedite the laning phase. There's even an option to begin with your character at level four. It's like the Genesis devs know that farming creeps is boring and are helping players get to team fights fas
