Square Face Glasses Recommendations: My Personal Experience

I have a square face with a strong jawline and angular features. Finding glasses that soften rather than emphasize these angles took some learning. Here are my square face glasses recommendations based on what actually worked.

Understanding My Square Face

My face has similar width and length, with a prominent jaw and forehead. The goal with glasses is to soften these strong angles, not emphasize them further.

Frame Shapes That Work

After trying many styles, I found these work best:

Round or oval frames - Soften my angular features

Frames with curved edges - Add softness without being too round

Slightly wider frames - Balance my strong jaw

Frames with some height - Add vertical dimension

What Doesn't Work

I learned to avoid:

Very angular or geometric frames - Make my face look too harsh

Narrow rectangular frames - Emphasize face width

Heavy, thick frames - Add too much visual weight

My Favorite Style

I've found that slightly rounded rectangular frames work perfectly for me. They're not perfectly round (which would look odd), but they have enough curve to soften my angles while still looking masculine.

Size Matters Too

Beyond shape, I need frames that are proportionate to my face:

Lens width: 54-56mm

Frame width: 140-145mm

Bridge: 18mm

The right size ensures frames don't look too small or overwhelm my features.

Final Thoughts

If you have a square face like mine, look for frames with curves and softer lines. They'll balance your natural angles and create a more harmonious look.
